  • 9/04/10 - Make the Move! Greater Franklin Area Walking Guide Challenge
    Enjoy one of the most popular walking spots on the walking guide. Park and meet at the Franklin Falls Dam parking lot on route 127 in Franklin. Walk this mile and a half route out to the end of the dam and back. Learn about other trail routes accessible at this site.


  • 9/07/10 - Hip Hop
    The Hip Hop Team will learn a two and a half minute routine that includes tricks, jumps, body isolations, rhythm, and musical interpretation. This routine will be performed at competitions in NH and New England.   • 9/11/10 - Jimmy Dunn Comes to the Middle
    From his regular Red Sox pre-game appearances to hosting NESN's Fan Attic, Jimmy Dunn is a stand-up kind of guy with the Sox appeal you've been searching for. Whether sharing a jail cell with Matt Damon in Stuck on You or appearing on Comedy Central and Jimmy Kimmel Live, his high-profile humor is sure to hit one out of the park!


  • 9/12/10 - Adult Recreation
    The Franklin Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a gym and game night for adults with special needs. This environment will encourage socialization as well as physical activity for each participant. Some of the activities will include (but not limited to) basketball, kickball, floor hockey, pool, and ping-pong.     Youths will be divided into traveling teams and play other area recreation teams on Saturdays. Skill development, team play, and sportsmanship are stressed.     The Franklin Recreation Department offers a way for parents and young children to have social interaction with other children and their parents. If the weather is nice we will be doing activities outside. Balls, mats, mini hoops, and other equipment and toys will be provided for children to play with. Parental Supervision is required.   • 9/14/10 - Fused Glass Class
    Discover how easy it is to create amazingly wonderful pieces when you work with a material as gorgeous as glass. This class gives you the practical experience to complete fused glass artwork. Choose from many beautiful colors and learn to create small flat and slumped glass pieces. Each attendee receives personal instruction to create and take home several glass projects including sun catchers, pendants, earrings, pins, etc. Topics covered: tool use, glass cutting, preparation for firing and fusing characteristics of glass.     A fun and lively class that enhances coordination, musicality and creativity. Children will learn the basic concepts of dance, perfecting weight transfers and balance, while working on their improvisation and cooperation skills within a group.     Learn the basics of tumbling in this six week course. Your child will learn forward rolls, bridges and cartwheels. This class is intended to improve your child's self-esteem and love of exercise through gymnastics.   • 9/15/10 - Clay Sculpture Class
    This class will help you create one or more works of art in clay that you can be proud of. Class is appropriate for beginning students with no prior sculpture or artistic experience. The class will cover personal instruction of throwing on the potters wheel and hand built clay sculpture. Students will learn a variety of techniques with easy-to-follow instructions. All students will have the opportunity to use a potters wheel. Students can create anything from functional dinnerware to a fun sculpture for the garden. All materials and firing included.     Players will be divided into teams in junior (1st – 3rd grade) and senior (4th -6th grade) divisions. Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals and skill development. Flag Football offers non-contact continuous action while using minimal equipment.   • 9/15/10 - Model Air Craft Lessons
    Join the Winnipesaukee Radio Controllers and learn how to fly model air crafts. Bring your own model aircraft and the Winnipesaukee Radio Controllers will offer basic instruction on flying your air craft. If you do not have an aircraft and are interested in the lessons, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department for a discounted aircraft.     The Franklin Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the New England School of Archery will be offering a 4 week session of Archery lessons. Lessons are for any age and any skill level. All equipment needed will be provided.     Pre-school soccer will offer a time of interaction for children and their parents. These children will be introduced to basic soccer skills as well as a variety of fun games.   • 9/20/10 - Cheerleading
    Athletes will learn jumps, tumbling, stunts, motion technique, a pyramid, and a dance. These skills will be incorporated into a routine that will be taken to competitions in New Hampshire and New England. Competitions require additional fees. No previous experience is necessary.   • 9/27/10 - 5th Annual Choose Franklin Candidate's Forum
    The Choose Franklin organization has had four years of success bringing candidates together to inform constituents of their thoughts at the annual Candidate's Forum. All community members are invited to attend this year's Candidate's Forum to hear the views of our next potential members of the Franklin City Council and School Board. This year, the 5th Annual candidate's Forum will be held on Monday, September 27th at the Franklin City Hall / Franklin Opera House at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening for candidate "Meet & Greet" time at 6:30 p.m.

  • 10/02/10 - Make the Move! Greater Franklin Area Walking Guide Challenge
    Join members of the Winnipesaukee River Trail Association for a scenic walk on Winnipesaukee River Trail. Park and meet at Trestle View Park in downtown Franklin. Two walk lengths will be offered, a 2.2 mile route and a 6.2 mile route. This event will conclude the Walking Guide Challenge.


  • 10/05/10 - Franklin City Elections
    Voting is open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the day of elections. Ward I residents vote at Thompson Hall; the Ward I area is comprised of all residents in West Franklin using nature’s Pemigewasset & Merrimack Rivers as a boundary line. Some general guidelines for voters at the Franklin City Hall in Ward II are: boundaries run on the west side of Prospect Street, Central Street to Sanborn Street, up to Babbit Road and down to the Pemigewasset River. Residents of Ward III reside within the remainder of the city and vote at the Franklin Middle School. Residents are encouraged to register to vote at the polls on Election Day or at Franklin City Hall until 10 days before the election; this year, voter registration deadline at City Hall is September 20th. Absentee ballots are requested in person or in writing: City Clerk, City of Franklin, 316 Central Street, Franklin, NH 03235.     Open basketball night for those 18 and over interested in participating in pick-up basketball games.
